Bobby Blake was born on August 11, 1957 in Memphis, Tennessee as Edgar Gaines. He is a bisexual businessman, ex-dancer, and former gay porn star. He has a degree in criminal justice and is now a Christian minister. After starting his career in Los Angeles as an erotic dancer, Bobby made his first adult gay film in 1996: Ebony Knights. In total, he made more than 100 films, always appearing aggressive, domineering, and masculine.
Bobby retired from the porn industry in 2000, becoming an evangelical pastor. In 2008, he released his autobiography My Life in Porn, where he talks about his roots as a bisexual black male in the Deep South dealing with a troubled mother, criminal brother, an absentee father, and balancing ‘normal’ romantic relationships, to his early experiences in the porn industry.
Bobby Blake had a huge impact on gay culture and the porn industry in general. Onscreen, he was an aggressive top who fucked men of all races, usually alongside his then boyfriend and gay porn star Flex-Deon Blake. With his large endowment, muscular frame, and masculine personality, he was the fantasy of many gay men all over the world. No other black gay porn star has even come close to topping him, even to this day. Though he has controversial opinions, he has always been proud of his bisexuality and advocates for the unification of the black community, interracial relationship acceptance, and promotes for gay men to adopt a more masculine identity. He's currently the pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.
